- Anti-gay marriage group NOM fakes photos of "supporters" using a photo of a crowd at an Obama rally in Columbus, OH in 2008. Keep fiddlin' assholes. People are coming to the realization, albeit painfully slowly, that gay marriage isn't going to affect anyone's lives except gay people who get married. Also, this gives me a delicate little lady boner for Rachel Maddow.
- At Blizzcon, Blizzard decided to close the event with a profanity-laden, homophobic tirade by the lead "singer" of Cannibal Corpse. It's really painful to listen to, and if I hadn't already decided to never play World of Warcraft again, this video would have been the nail in the coffin.
- It's awkward viewing, especially the "homo" and "die" parts. As you'd expect from a game with over ten million players, there are a number of World of Warcraft subscribers, gay or otherwise, not happy with Blizzard's screening of the clip, viewing it as a passive endorsement of sorts of Fisher's behaviour.
- In news that should surprise no one, but is sad all the same, coroner's reports show that Amy Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning.
- Amy Winehouse drank herself to death. That was the ruling of a coroner's inquest into the death of the Grammy-winning soul singer, who died with empty vodka bottles in her room and lethal amounts of alcohol in her blood – more than five times the British drunk driving limit.
- With the launch of a new Kirby title this week, Nintendo announced it spent 11 years working and reworking three titles that never got published.
- Hulu Plus is coming soon to the 3DS and the Wii.
- Nintendo today announced Hulu support would be coming by the end of the year to both 3DS and Wii. It'll be available through a free app download and requires a Hulu Plus subscription, currently priced at $7.99 per month. With a subscription you'll be able to stream TV shows to your system of choice from a number of different networks -- NBC, Comedy Central, FX, and others.
Good Internet Reads
- Excellent Slate piece on why Occupy Wall Street doesn't need to be summed up in a sound bite by corporate media.
- What the movement clearly doesn’t want is to have to explain itself through corporate television. To which I answer, Hallelujah. You can’t talk down to a movement that won’t talk back to you.

- This is a really gripping piece about game designer Mickey Neumann who, at the age of 29, suffered a stroke. This hits close to home for me, considering what I've been going through with my brother, who is 30.
- "You just stop trusting anything," Neumann wrote on a blog he set up to write, therapeutically, about his condition. "You end up breaking down every time a doctor asks, 'Do you have any questions?' when they haven't successfully answered one yet ... You end up wasting the 29-year stint you had a perfect record of never dropping an f-bomb in front of your mother, only to spew off in a tirade laden with them from the frustration seeping from your every pore. You end up losing hope, and it makes you very sad."
- The 10 worst comic live action television series ever. Sad to see The Tick on the list, as I actually kinda liked it.

- World's largest pumpkin carved into a zombie sculpture

- Richard Garriott has an awesome house! I have posted about my love of secret passageways in homes before, so you can imagine how much I dig this house. Also, I had a geekgasm over the City of Heroes footage in the video.
- This amazing photo stream sets out to recreate moments in time, and succeeds brilliantly:

- Awesome zombie wedding!

- In my future home, I'm going to have John build me all kinds of cozy reading nooks all over the house:
Love the reading nooks. I'd love to have a house with a couple of those myself. =)
